Bangkok governor candidate Sukhumbhand Paribatra of the Democrat Party has promised the women of Bangkok increased safety and improved health care if he is elected for a second term.

MR Sukhumbhand said he recognised the importance of policies relating to women for the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA).

The former city governor said he proposed integrated policies focusing on women, starting with safety. So another 240,000 CCTVs would be installed, in addition to the 240,000 already installed during his four-year term in office.

Typically a case of CCTV syndrome. "More cameras is less crime". Well sorry but it doesnt work that way. Cameras are a usefull tool but if the policeforce is underpar, crime will continue to flourisch no matter how much cctv are installed. 240.000 existing cam + 240.000 new ones coupled with 200.000 private ones. A total of 680.000 cams ???? Complete madness.
