Governor hopefuls failing on policy front, forum told

Experts on traffic and transport are sceptical about the chances of Bangkok's gridlocked transport system improving, regardless of who wins the March 3 gubernatorial election.

None of the three leading candidates in the race offer any real solutions to traffic and transport problems, the experts told a Bangkok Post special forum.

If the so called "Transportation" experts see no solution then they should be fired and replaced with someone with true traffic solutions.

Promises promises. remember the vendor free super squeaky clean pedestrians only skywalks at 3million Baht per metre or something like that.

Have any of you seen the beautiful new covered elevated skywalk along the front of the hospital on Rama 6. Stuck under it in the traffic I was admiring it when all of a sudden something large zipped along the skywalk above my head. It turned out to be a golf cart. Apparently the skywalk is too long for some so an enterprising soul has manhandled some golf carts up there and now they blast along the pedestrian walkway giving rides for a small fee. Next will be motorsai.

TIT- you have to love it

It should be all about who can put together the best team of experts to solve the many problems in the city.

Learn something from Singapore that the government is sucking blood from car ownership. Bangkok traffic would forever unsolved because a Suzuki Swift costs only around 500,000 Baht. Singapore's Suzuki Swift costs 2,640,000 Baht! See who dares to buy car at this price in Bangkok? Traffic problem is guarantee solved!!!

If we could only get the experts to run for governor then all our problems would be solved.

    bangkokmodker,

Especially in the light of a recent red protest where the main leader was indeed a Chula lecturer.

D5 & D6 : Perhaps you'd care to add some sources for your claims about Chula and the PAD-Dems?
It would possibly reduce the general view of your comments as pure PTP/UDD propaganda and raving anti everyone else rants.

    avegetable,

"He is a proud owner of three cars now."
So, it's one guy driving tree cars at a time? That's a neat trick, how does he do that?
Agreed, this PT scheme is nothing but yet another failure.

Three experts telling the Bngkok voters what they already know! Who really cares if someone got a new car under the govt. scheme, who cares if someone owns six cars, but can only drive one at time, what we do need to care about is when the govt. will adopt transport changes? Even 3+3, put on three extra carraifes on every skytrain, adopt 3-in-1 rule for all vehicles in the city centre (3 people in 1 vehicle or fines are handed out) are two simple changes that will help with tansport problems in greater Bangkok area.
