Dems fret over Pheu Thai gains

Sukhumbhand, party told to lift their game

The large vote gains made by the Pheu Thai Party in the Bangkok governor election are a sign the Democrats have much more work to do, party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva says.

Bangkok governor-elect Sukhumbhand Paribatra gives a thumbs up to voters as he and key Democrat figures take a city tour to thank Bangkok residents for their votes in Sunday’s election. all people who supported the PTP should rejoice now just like me, most especially those politicians who gave all their supports to Mr. Sukhumbhand. For the lossers better luck next time. Bangkokians just voted the right and best man whom they believed will help them achieve prosperity. No other reasons...... teaming with a fugitives is already a bad thing which most people think is the worst thing a politican could ever do to destroy his possble winning

Discussion 41 englishbob : your excitement over the bkk governor voting result is understandable, but don't forget PT is still the overall winner after the 2011 general election.

Khun Ricefield #49, my point is that for Nixon, as crooked as he might be, the country still came first over personal ambition.

Disc 42 - You comment on Nixon and then you quote from JFK. So I'll quote you some Nixon, "I am not a crook." or "Well, I screwed it up real good, didn't I?"

Disc 41 - While I don't know where Majority gets his figures He's correct. From this chart, I'm sure even you can follow the lines, the Independent vote has fallen over time the democrats peaked in 2008 and the TS based party of the time has slowly gained ground.

Disc 36 - "every time I have to go up county it feels like going back in time a few decades." And you continue to ask why, oh why, do these people vote TRT/PPP/PTP rather than Democrat - when the answer is right before your eyes.

Disc#41 englishbob, by your comment it appears that you are also assuming? "In four years time, if Puea Thai have continued to mislead, lie and ruin the economy............might well be another 1" seems like an assumption to me? OK for some, but not for all.....

Interesting! The winner looks more like a loser, while the loser looks more like the real winner. You know why? It is very simple, because the combined number of votes of the narrowly outnumbered 2nd place (a new face in politics) and the numbers of votes cast for the others are higher than the number of the votes cast to the 1st ranked candidate (a political veteran and the reigning governor). Or, in another word, the winner (looks more like a loser) did not win the majority. If a majority vote rule applied, the winner is not there yet.

Disc. 41 - Englishbob...".........a simple and naive assumption (that's ok... you do it often)"

being derogatory about Poster Majority does not 'Takeaway' from his valid point that improvement will be needed in Sukh's performance as enunciated by his own party.

"........if Peua Thai have continued to mislead,

To suggest 'misleading' by the PTP so generally, prevents anyone considering countering it, wondering "Whybother".

But "SD" does make a good point in his discussion above.
    Whybother, Takeaway, SD
