A science teacher at all-boys Suankularb Wittayalai School in Bangkok has been abruptly transferred out after video clips of him having sex with several boys went viral online.
The appearance of the videos prompted school director Withoon Wong-in to raise the case with the Educational Zone 1 Office, which immediately ordered the transfer of Sarot Meephai to the main office pending an investigation, Amnuay Chanhom, deputy director of Suankularb Wittayalai School, said on Friday.
Mr Sarot, who taught science for Mathayom 6 students (Level 12) at the top public school, had admitted to having sex with boys, but claimed he bought their services on the internet, Mr Amnuay said, Thai media reported.
On Thursday, a message was posted on the Facebook page ‘’Nakkrian Suankularb’’ about an inappropriate act involving a school teacher.
Many clips of sexual acts involving the teacher and male students from several schools were posted on a twitter account of user k@uhbbjhbj. The account was later found to belong to Mr Sarot. It has since been closed.
The teacher admitted he had used his apartment room in Pinklao area as a venue to have sex with boys, the deputy school director said. Mr Sarot denied having sex with Suankularb Wittayalai students.
Mr Sarot, who had been teaching at the boys school for more than a year, also said he had not posted sex clips online, Mr Amnuay said. He had taught at Satriwithaya School for girls for five years before moving to Suankularb Wittayalai School.
The school has set up a panel to investigate the science teacher. The five-member panel, comprising representatives from the school, legal experts and students’ parents, was given 15 days to complete the investigation, said Mr Amnuay.
The school had raised the case during the school’s morning activities so students and parents would be informed of what happened, said the deputy school director.
Suankularb students were advised to immediately inform the school if they were abused by the teacher. So far, no students had come forward to complain, Mr Amnuay said.
