The developer of Pokemon Go has agreed to comply with the zoning proposal of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), said the secretary-general of the national telecommunications regulator.

NBTC received a letter from Niantic Inc of the United States in response to its written request for play restrictions, NBTC secretary-general Takorn Tantasith said on Friday, referring to the developer of the smash hit location-based, augmented reality game.

Niantic assigned its Thai representative Baker & McKenzie Ltd to discuss the measures with NBTC. It is ready to cooperate and did not turn a deaf ear on the matter, Mr Takorn said.

NBTC deputy secretary-general Korkij Danchaivichit would work out details with the law firm and NBTC would keep the public informed on updates on the matter, he said.

Earlier, the NBTC asked Niantic to keep Pokemon Go items and activities away from danger-prone areas like those near water sources and railway tracks, religious and ancient places, and government and private properties.
