Ugandan woman falls to her death

A 22-year-old Ugandan woman fell to her death from a high-rise building in Rat Burana district, Bangkok, early on Monday.

Police were told by Ashley Danniels, a 30-year-old Briton, that the woman was his friend. They had returned to his rented room on the 16th floor of Suksawat Modern Condoview on Suk Sawat Road about 2am.

While they were resting the woman answered a phone call and had an argument with the caller. Then she suddenly rose and jumped from the window to her death, police quoted him as saying.

Security guards at the condominium said Mr Danniels informed them of the incident about 4am. He had then jumped into nearby Khlong Jaeng Ron canal, where her body lay, and bust into tears.

Mr Danniels, a language teacher at Panyasak School in Suk Sawat area, often went out at night and a black person had visited him twice at the condominium, security guards said.

The dead woman was wearing a black jersey and blue shorts, with a damaged white mobile pohone in her pocket. Her body was resting on the bank of the canal.

Police found a black leather bag containing her passport and a pair of white shoes near the condominium's wall.

Investigators were awaiting an autopsy report from Siriraj Hospital before further questioning Mr Danniels.
