NAKHON NAYOK - A party of 19 trekkers and five porters who became lost on a three-day hike in Khao Yai National Park were found by searchers overnight and guided to safety.
The group, all from Bangkok, was located about 1am on Tuesday in the Khlong Madua area of tambon Sarika in Muang district by a team of park officials, soldiers and volunteers of the Por Teck Tung Foundation.
All of them appeared exhausted and some sustained minor injuries, rescuers reported.
They were given first aid and then led out to the Khao Yai National Park's 13th forest protection centre in Nang Rong district, where they were resting.
The 24-strong group started their jungle trip on Oct 7 from Khlong Madua Waterfall in tambon Sarika, heading to Haew Krathin Waterfall. They were scheduled to return on Oct 9 but did not show up.
They informed park officials by phone that they had become lost in the forest while on their way out.
A search party was formed and sent out to help them. They were found in Khlong Madua area early on Tuesday.
