Theatres reschedule movies, concerts, marathon off

Some movie theatres closed for the day on Friday, others reduced screening sessions, and concerts were called off.

Movie theatres run by SF Cinema City Co and House Rama RCA were closed for the day. Major Cineplex reduced screening sessions, and the Thai Film Archive suspended all screenings for one month.

The scheduled concert by British artist Steven Morrissey at Moon Star Studio in Bangkok next Tuesday was cancelled.

The following concerts have been postponed -- Modern Dog band set at Muang Thong Thani, Nonthaburi, and ETC Journey Concert in Bangkok on Saturday; the Thailand Music League concert at Muang Thong Thani on Oct 22; Big Bang Made (VIP) Tour at Muang Thong Thani on Oct 29; JYP Nation in Bangkok concert at Muang Thong Thani on Nov 5-6; and Grand Ex' Grand Concert in Hua Hin on Nov 26.

In sport, King's Cup FB Battery River Kwai Half Marathon on Sunday has been postponed,

TV channels are all airing the same programmes about King Bhumibol from the Television Pool of Thailand. They resumed broadcastng in colour about noon Friday.

The government on Friday asked that entertainment events be suspended for one month, as a sign of respect, following the passing of King Bhumibol on Thursday.
