Prince Kalifah bin Sulman al-Khalifah, the prime minister of Bahrain, on Tuesday laid a wreath to pay respects to the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej at the Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall in the Grand Palace.

He later proceeded to sign a message of condolence at the Amarin Winitchai Throne Hall.

The prime minister of Bahrain is the uncle of the reigning King Hamad bin Isa al-Khalifah. He is the first Arab prince to have been bestowed with a high royal decoration entitled the Knight Grand Cordon (Special Class) of the Most Exalted Order of the White Elephant.

Prince Khalifah bin Sulman al-Khalifah had visited Thailand on several occasions. He was granted an audience with King Bhumibol on his official visits to Thailand in 2001 and 2007.

He represented Bahrain at the 60th anniversary celebrations of His Majesty the King's ascension to the throne in 2006.
