Images of late King downloadable free from National Archives

The Culture Ministry will allow people to download any of more than 30,000 images of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej free of charge from the data storage of the National Archives.

Culture Minister Vira Rojpojchanarat said people can keep them to remember the late King and the media can disseminate them through various channels.

The images are rare photos of King Bhumibol during his childhood and while performing activities in various parts of the country.

Mr Vira said the images will also be available on CDs to be given to the media for dissemination both in the country and abroad.

People who want to use the late King's images for business purposes are required to contact the National Archives, as stated in the National Archives Act of 2013, Mr Vira said.

Kachorn Mukmeeka, deputy director-general of Fine Arts Department, said around 1,400 images had already uploaded on the website of the Office of National Archives of Thailand. The department will upload 200 images each day until the total of 30,000 images been posted online. 

He said the aim was to disseminate information about the king's biography and his works for audiences in Thailand and other countries. 

The images can be used without alteration and the watermark must be maintained. If the images are tol be used for commercial purpose, the users have to receive permission from the office, he said.
