Fake brandname goods seized in Pratunam raid

A combined police unit raided a shop at Pratunam intersection in Ratchathewi district on Thursday and seized about 7,000 false brand-name products.

Members of the Tourist Police Division and Patrol and Special Operations Division searched "Phung" shop on the first floor of Platinum Fashion Mall and seized about 7,000 items falsely labelled with Paul Frank and Adidas brandnames.

Shop attendant Namwan Promchan, 22, a Lao national, was taken for questioning at Phayathai police station to find out who was the owner of the shop and where the fake products were from.

Similar searches were being made at eight more spots in Bang Sue, Lat Phrao and Hua Mark areas.

Violators of the Patent Act are liable to a maximum jail term of five years and/or a fine of up to 200,000 baht.
