Police are gathering evidence to seek a court warrant for the arrest of at least 10 people accused of fraud in the latest police entrance examination.

Pol Maj Gen Adul Narongsak, deputy commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, said at least 10 people have been implicated in the cheating saga.

The findings of a preliminary probe into the exam found acts of fraud among those taking the tests for the Metropolitan Police Bureau and the Provincial Police Region 7.

Jeerapoj Plaiduang, 45, an official with the Pathumwan district office of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration's City Law Enforcement Department, turned himself in to police for questioning in connection with the cheating. He was released on bail after reporting to Phahon Yothin police.

Pol Maj Gen Adul said police have looked into his financial transactions but declined to give details.

Pol Gen Detnarong Sutthichanbancha, acting deputy national police chief, said Wednesday the Provincial Police Region 7 is investigating the cheating in its jurisdiction to determine who is involved.

An initial investigation showed about 30 people might have been connected to the exam fraud, he said.

He said a police committee set up to look into exam fraud in the 10 other bureaus found no irregularities and those agencies can proceed with recruitment.

Pol Gen Detnarong said the committee is also considering whether the results of the rigged exams should be scrapped or if other measures should be adopted as scrapping the results would affect others who were not involved in the cheating.

He said the committee's proposal will be forwarded to national police chief Chakthip Chaijinda on Monday and assured the proposal will take into consideration the rights of other applicants. Earlier, Pol Gen Chakthip insisted police would not void all the results.
