Volunteer craftsmen wanted for building of royal pyre

The Fine Arts Department is inviting people to apply to work as volunteers in the construction of the crematorium and its supplementary work of art, and the renovation of a royal chariot, for the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej's funeral, department deputy director-general Sahabhum Bhumtitterat said on Wednesday.

Mr Sahabhum said people who wish to apply must be appropriately experienced, expert craftsmen in the field of traditional arts.

Those interested can apply from now until Feb 3.

They can apply in person at the general administration building of the Office of Traditional Arts on Phutthamonthon Sai 5 in tambon Salaya of Phutthamonthon district, Nakhon Pathom province, or by mail.

Application forms can be downloaded from the website: www.finearts.go.th/traditionalart.

The Office of Traditional Arts will announce the names of those who qualify on Feb 24 on the same website. Those qualified will undergo an interview and a test of craftsmanship on Feb 27.
