PATHUM THANI - A 13-year-old girl rescued from an assault has accused a 29-year-old woman and her gang of beating her in a bid to force her to sell sex services to motorists in Rangsit area.

The girl, whose name was withheld, sustained injuries on the body when police arrived at the entrance of Soi 3 in front of the Rattanakosin 200 Years housing estate in Thanyaburi district at around midnight after being alerted by her parents.

The girl alleged Supalak Poonngern and her gang beat her on Wednesday night after she refused to return and work with them as a street sex worker. Police later found Ms Supalak and took her to Pratunam Chulalongkorn police station for questioning.

The girl’s parents took their daughter to file a complaint with police after she was rescued.

The father, 37, told police that his daughter had run away from home in August last year and he had filed a complaint with police to help find her.

He just learned about her plight on Wednesday after receiving a phone call from her seeking help from the assault by the accused woman and her gang. He immediately alerted police and rushed to the scene to help his daughter.

The girl told the police after running from home, she waited tables at a restaurant where Ms Supalak also worked. She claimed the woman and her gang later lured her into the sex trade.

They allegedly took her to find potential customers on the streets in Pathum Thani’s Rangsit area. The gang reportedly deducted brokerage fees from the 1,100-1,500 baht she received from each customer, leaving her with 500 baht.

She claimed the gang was enraged after she fled to work at another restaurant.

She said she encountered Ms Supalak and her gang again on her way to the restaurant on Wednesday. The woman suddenly snatched her hair and slapped her in a fit of anger.

Police initially pressed charges of physical assault against Ms Supalak. They were investigating and more charges would be later taken as the victim was a minor.
