NAKHON RATCHASIMA - A scrap dealer was killed when a rocket-propelled grenade he was working on exploded. The grenade came from a local military shooting range which he visited frequently.

After a deafening explosion Sunday morning, police and rescue workers found the dismembered body of Saithong Hadsoongnoen, 54, at his two-storey wooden house in tambon Phu Luang of Pak Thong Chai district.

They also found evidence of an exploded RPG near the body as well as many other usable grenades. The house was immediately cordoned off for public safety.

Neighbours said Saithong had made a living by collecting and selling scrap and frequently entered a local military shooting range to pick used ammunition for the metal, ignoring locals' warning not to do so.

That was why his house was full of a wide range of ammunition.

Saithong started this Sunday like a normal morning when he hit ammunition shells to collect their outer metal and the routine activity finally claimed his life.
