Accident kills 2, injures 13

KAMPHAENG PHET -- Two Myanmar nationals were killed and 13 other people injured after a van they were travelling in rammed into the rear of a trailer truck in Muang district early on Sunday, according to media reports.

Pol Capt Viroj Kanthamala, a Muang district police investigator, said the accident occurred at about 5.40am on the Asian Highway near a petrol station in tambn Nakhon Khum.

A police investigation revealed that the van, driven by Chatchai Phuphani, was taking 13 Myanmar migrant workers from Pathum Thani province to Mae Sot district of Tak when it slammed into the rear of the trailer truck.

Two female migrant workers, both unidentified, were killed at the scene. The eleven other workers were injured, three of them seriously. The van's driver and his wife were also hurt. All of the injured were admitted to the provincial hospital.
