Six governors sidelined by NCPO order under S44

Six provincial governors have been abruptly transferred to the position of special inspector-general at the Prime Minister's Office by an order of the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) issued under Section 44 of the interim constitution.

The order, which took effect on April 4, was signed by Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha as chairman of the NCPO.

The six governors transferred under this order are Sak Somboonto of Kanchanaburi, Nathapatchara Suwanprateep of Kalasin, Boonsong Techamaneesathit of Chiang Rai, Chokchai Det-amornpan of Phuket, Surapol Sawaengsak of Ratchaburi, and Pasin Komolwich of Sing Buri.

According to the order, the transfers will improve the efficiency of the Interior Ministry and facilitate  administrative reform.

Under the same order, Suwit Khamdee, security adviser at the Office of the Permanent Secretary for Interior, is appointed Kalasin governor; Narongsak Osotthanakorn, an inspector at the Office of the Permanent Secretary for Interior, is new Chiang Rai governor; Norapat Plodthong, an adviser for work integration at the Office of the Permanent Secretary for Interior, is Phuket governor; and, Chaiwat Chuenkosum, an adviser for administrative affairs at the Office of the Permanent Secretary for Interior, is Ratchaburi governor.

Replacements for the Kalasin and Sing Buri governors have not been named.
