Songkran storms warning for upper Thailand

Another high pressure zone from China is moving into upper Thailand, bringing hot weather with summer thunderstorms, gusty winds and even hail during April 12-15, according to the 5am forecast by the Meteorological Department.

Provinces to be affected on Wednesday and Thursday are: Loei, Nong Bua Lamphu, Udon Thani, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Mukdahan, Amnat Charoen, Ubon Ratchathani, Si Sa Ket, Yasothon, Kalasin, Roi Et, Maha Sarakham, Khon Kaen, Chaiyaphum, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buri Ram and Surin in the Northeast; Chiang Rai, Phayao, Phrae, Nan, Uttaradit, Sukhothai, Phichit, Phitsanulok and Phetchabun in the North; and Nakhon Sawan, Lop Buri and Saraburi in the Central region.  

Summer thunderstorms are expected to continue in the North, East and Central regions on Friday and Saturday.

People are advised to take health and safety precautions and keep abreast of weather advisories.
