Hmong man arrested, 2m speed pills found in pickup truck

PHAYAO - A Hmong tribesman was arrested after some 2 million speed pills were found hidden under cabbages in a pickup truck during a search in Phu Sang district on Wednesday.

A combined team of narcotics suppression police and paramilitary rangers stopped for a search the pickup truck at Kanchanapisek checkpoint in Phu Sang as the driver looked suspicious.

The search uncovered 10 fertiliser sacks, containing some 2 million speed pills, under piles of cabbages at the pickup tray. The vehicle was on the way to Chiang Mai province when it was stopped.

Driver Sarayut Sae Yang, 24, a Hmong tribal man from Phop Phra district of Tak was caught on drug charges and handed over to Phu Sang police for legal action.

Authorities would extend the investigation and search the suspect’s home in Phop Phra district.
