NAKHON SI THAMMARAT - The provincial court on Thursday approved an arrest warrant for a teaching assistant accused of assaulting a two-year-old girl at a kindergarten.

The court granted a police request for capturing Anusara Urairaksa, 24, after she had ignored a summons to report to Muang police station for questioning about a complaint lodged by the mother of the girl that she had assaulted their daughter.

The child was sent to a private kindergarten in Muang district for a summer camp from April 3-28 to prepare her for pre-schooling in the new semester. Mrs Anusara was an aide of the teachers at the school.

The mother, whose name is withheld to protect the identity of the child, has said her daughter always resisted going to the camp when she sent her to the school.

The child cried even more when she picked her up at the school on April 18 and the mother said she was shocked when she took off the clothes of her daughter and found several bruises on the body.

She decided to lodge a complaint to police on that day.

Footage of a CCTV at the school watched by her and police showed the child was pinched for 50 minutes during a lunch break by Mrs Anusara, she said.

She was told by the school that the teaching assistant was fired.

Pol Capt Jarin Lee-aeb, a deputy superintendent of the police station, said on Thursday that Mrs Anusara postponed a meeting with investigators for seven days.

Police decided to seek an arrest warrant for her on assault charges after the deadline ended on Thursday and she failed to meet authorities, Pol Capt Jarin added.
