SONGKHLA - A Malaysian tourist was found dead in a hotel room in Hat Yai district on Saturday morning.

When police and rescue workers arrived at the hotel in Muang district, they found the woman, 39, lying in her bed, with no signs of an assault or physical injuries.

Investigators initially assumed she might die of a natural cause as they learned she had heart disease, diabetes, asthma and thalassemia.

Her husband allegedly told police they came to Hat Yai on Friday. When he woke up at 9.30am on Saturday, he found her dead.

The police sent the body to Hat Yai hospital for a post-mortem and are investigating.
