The Office of the Narcotics Control Board has auctioned 129 seized assets worth 58 million baht in total, including the Lamborghini once owned by Akarakit "Benz Racing" WorarojcharoendetNatthapol.

Secretary-general Sirinya Sitthichai presided over the auction on Saturday.

The assets comprise 80 gold ornaments and accessories, 36 passenger cars and trucks and 13 motorcycles.

Some of the assets were seized from Mr Akarakit, a suspect in connection with the regional Xaysana Keopimpha drug ring. They include the Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggerra, with a starting price of 11 million baht, and a KTM motorcycle starting at 900,000 baht.

Mr Sirinya said seized assets, especially cars, could not be sold below market prices as they are still on mortgage.

"Besides, the suspect still have an interest in them. If the court decided in a final ruling the assets had nothing to do with the case, they will be returned to the suspects."

For assets sold higher than market prices in the auction, the excess is considered the suspects' assets.

Another auction will be held on Tuesday for 20 properties totalling 24 million baht, he added.
