Pongpisut Promkote, the taxi driver, said after dropping the tourist at the airport at 9.40am, he pulled over at a petrol station for a break and found the passenger's wallet on the rear seat.
He called JS100 traffic radio for help to locate the passenger and drove back to the airport to hand it over to Suvarnabhumi Airport police station at 11am.
Pol Lt Col Kaweerat Bangkhomtham said police checked what was inside and found 10,354 baht in cash, credit cards and a business card bearing the name of the tourist and his phone number.
Authorities checked flight schedules to Myanmar and found that Bangkok Airways flight PG709 to Mandalay would leave at noon at Gate D1A, with the name of the tourist on the passenger list.
Security officers at the airport then called a Bangkok Airway staff at the gate before going there. Five minutes before the aircraft was scheduled to leave, the wallet was returned to the owner.
