SATUN: Koh Lipe has been flooded for four days as heavy rain continues. Hundreds of houses and shops are inundated and some road sections are impassable.

Soldiers and police helped hundreds of local residents and shop owners move their belongings to high ground on the southern tourist island on Saturday.

People blamed the flooding on persistent rain in the past four days. Making matters worse is the fact hotel construction has blocked some natural drainage channels.

Local administrators have installed pumps to drain floodwater but to no avail as the rain has not stopped.
