His Majesty the King donated 100 million baht raised from the sales of diaries featuring His Majesty's drawings to fund a new patient building at Siriraj Hospital.

His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun granted an audience to executives of the hospital led by Prof Dr Prasit Watanapa, dean of the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, at the Amphorn Sathan Residential Hall on Friday to present the donation.

The donation was intended to help fund the construction of the Navamindrapobitr 84th Anniversary Building. The new medical centre will replace three 50-year-old dilapidated buildings. It will have 25 floors and 355 beds.

At the occasion, His Majesty the King also expressed gratitude towards the management of Siriraj Hospital for having treated late King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

The diaries contained His Majesty the King's drawings, some of them from his 2017 New Year's greetings cards for Thais.
