Thai Airways,Thai Smile add flights for funeral

National carrier Thai Airways International (THAI) and its subsidiary Thai Smile Airways have added extra flights between Bangkok and provincial airports during the Royal Cremation ceremony period.

Additional domestic flights will be operated from October 23-31.

THAI said in a press release that it will more daily round trips as follows: 11 additional flights between Bangkok and Phuket; five between Bangkok and Chiang Mai; three on the Bangkok-Krabi route and two between Bangkok and Samui.

In all Thai Airways will operate 183 flights with more than 110,000 seats during the nine-day period.

Thai Smile will increase its additional roundtrip flights to 5 between Bangkok and Udon Thani, 4 between Bangkok and Ubon Ratchathani, 6 between Bangkok and Khon Kaen, 7 between Bangkok and Hat Yai, 3on the Bangkok-Surat Thani route, 2 between Bangkok and Krabi, 5 between Bangkok and Phuket, 2 between Bangkok and Narathiwat, 7 between Bangkok and Chiang Mai and 3 between Bangkok and Chiang Rai.

Altogether, Thai Smile will operate 393 flights with more than 131,000 available seats during the period.

The additional flights aim at helping people get from the provinces to Bangkok to join the historic event to be held from Oct 26-29 at Sanam Luang.
