NAKHON PATHOM: Ten workers were swept away on Friday and one is missing after a large pipe burst at a water treatment plan in Bang Len district, sending a huge volume of water flooding into the basement.

The incident occurred at 3.50pm at the Bang Len tapwater treatment plant in Bang Rakham village, Thai media reported. Ten workers were in the basement when the water suddenly started rushing in.

Thairath Online reported that water trucks and pumps from Bang Rakham were deployed to drain the basement, which was under about four metres of water.

Two workers were initially found injured and rushed to a local hospital. Their condition was not yet known. Seven others were rescued shortly afterward and the search was continuing on Friday evening for one more.
