Summer storms forecast for most regions

Summer storms and hail are forecast for the Northeast and the East, and then the North and the Central Plain, including greater Bangkok, from Sunday to Wednesday.

A high pressure system from China will expand to upper Thailand. The country is hot and that will cause summer storms and hail, Wanchai Sakudomchai, director-general of the Meteorological Department, said on Friday.

Storms were likely in the Northeast and the East on Sunday. The northeastern provinces of Amnat Charoen, Bung Kan, Buri Ram, Kalasin, Loei, Maha Sarakham, Mukdahan, Nakhon Phanom, Nong Bua Lam Phu, Nong Khai, Roi Et, Sakon Nakhon, Si Sa Ket, Surin, Ubon Ratchathani, Udon Thani, and Yasothon should be prepared.

At the same time, storms were also likely in the eastern provinces of Chachoengsao, Chanthaburi, Chon Buri, Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Rayong, Sa Kaeo, and Trat.

On Monday and Tuesday the storm front will move to the North, affecting Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Kamphaeng Phet, Lampang, Lamphum, Nan, Phayao, Phetchabun, Phichit, Phitsanulok, Phrae, Sukhothai, Tak and Uttaradit provinces.

In the Northeast during the same period, storms were likely in Amnat Charoen, Bung Kan, Buri Ram, Kalasin, Loei, Maha Sarakham, Mukdahan, Nakhon Phanom, Nong Bua Lam Phu, Nong Khai, Roi Et, Sakon Nakhon, Si Sa Ket, Surin, Ubon Ratchathani, Udon Thani and Yasothon.

On Monday and Tuesday storms are forecast for the central plain provinces of Ang Thong, Ayutthaya, Chai Nat, Lop Buri, Nakhon Sawan, Saraburi, Sing Buri and greater Bangkok; and the eastern provinces of Chachoengsao, Chanthaburi, Chon Buri, Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Rayong, Sa Kaeo and Trat.

On Wednesday there may be storms in the North: Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Kamphaeng Phet, Lampang, Lamphum, Nan, Phayao, Phrae, Sukhothai, Tak, and Uttaradit.

The same weather conditions will prevail in the Central Plain: Ang Thong, Ayutthaya, Chai Nat, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Sing Buri, Suphan Buri, Uthai Thani and greater Bangkok.

It also extend to the southern provinces of Chumphon, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan and Surat Thani.
