A speed boat taking tourists sightseeing which lost contact with its base in Phangnga province on Monday is safe and expected to return to port on Tuesday morning, according to Torpong Wongsathienchai, manager of the operating company, Love Island.

Mr Torpong said the speed boat Love Andaman, fully loaded with tourists, left Tachai island about 4pm yesterday to return to Phangnga.

However, the base lost contact with the boat, leading to fears it may have had an accident.
