Man killed, wife shot by gunman

Young daughter was killed in attack in 2007

A man was killed and his wife seriously injured by a motorcycle gunman in Si Sakhon district of Narathiwat province on Monday, police said.

Pol Capt Daoyos Keyura, the duty officer at Si Sakhon district police station, said the attack occurred in Ban Aitue-ngo in tambon Si Sakhon shortly before noon.

Police and soldiers sent to the  scene reported that Charoon Srichan, 62, and his wife Tuenjai Boonkliang, 48, were returning home from the district town on a motorcycle and were followed by two men on another motorcycle

As they were passing Aitue-ngo village, the pillion rider fired six shots at them from a handgun. Charoon was killed.

His wife was seriously wounded and was admitted to Si Sakhon Hospial and later transferred to Narathiwat Ratchanakarin Hospital.

Their daughter, Sukanda Srichan, was killed in an attack by gunmen on March 3, 2007.
