Smugglers hid yaba under truck tray

Two men have been arrested and 500,000 speed pills seized from their pickup truck during a search in Chiang Mai province.

A combined team of police and soldiers on Thursday stopped for a search a Toyota pickup truck at Ban Pahong checkpoint in Chai Prakan district of the northern province.

The search found 500,000 speed pills hidden under the flat bed of the vehicle. 

The two men in the vehicle – driver Anek Thanomwitthaya,28, and Duangchan Thanomwitthaya, 25, both of Mae Rim district - allegedly confessed they had been hired to deliver the  drugs to a dealer in downtown Chiang Mai.

 The two brothers  allegedly confessed they had been hired by a man in Phitsanulok for 200,000 baht each to smuggle the drugs from the border area in Mae Ai district.

They were taken to a police station for further action.
