Fire ravages stationery store

PHITSANULOK — A fire gutted a stationery store in Muang district on Saturday morning, causing no casualties but damage is estimated at about 10 million baht.

The blaze at four six-storey commercial buildings that house Chorchaiyapreuk stationery store  on Mittraparb Road broke out at about 7.30am, police said.

More than 10 trucks and firemen were deployed to the scene where the fire rapidly spread on the first floor of the shop, located behind the provincial bus terminal. Residents living at a nearby dormitory were asked to leave their rooms.

Firefigthers took about two hours to keep the blaze under control.  No deaths or injuries were reported. 

Police believed the blaze could have been caused by a short circuit. Initial damage was estimated at 10 million baht.
