A man and his wife were killed and their daughter and another woman injured when a tree fell on a group of Kamphaeng Phet Provincial Electricity Authority officials camping in Khlong Wangchao National Park in Wangchao district of Tak province on Sunday morning, police said.
Pol Capt Manoon Muangmit, the duty officer at Wangchao police station, said the incident occurred early Sunday when a large tree about 15 metres tall suddenly fell while about 20 PEA officials from Kamphaeng Phet were having breakfast under it.
Mangkorn Panyadee, 47, was crushed by the fallen tree and killed instantly. His wife, Mrs Natthida, 38, was seriously injured. She died later at Wangchao Hospital. Their 12-year-old daughter Wipada suffered a leg injury, while Kanthima Prasan, 31, sustained a broken leg.
The others in the group were unhurt.
