Pol Maj Gen Piyapan Pingmuang, commander of the Metropolitan Police's Division 1, said the shooting happened at about 10am in Soi Thung Setthi 15 in Bangkok's Prawet district.

Nantapong Phrom-iam, 34, was found lying dead in a pool of blood outside his house. His wife, Rasarind Thirathon, 41, was seriously injured. She was sent to Piyamin Hospital.

Their neighbour, Adul Iam-mee, 66, was detained at Udomsuk police station.

Witnesses told police that the three frequently argued about their pets making a loud noise. The couple had a shih tzu and a poodle, while the shooting suspect owned a labrador. In addition, the couple often complained about the roof of the suspect's house that protrudes above their property, causing rainwater to flow into their house.

Witnesses said Mr Adul fired a gun three times at the couple during the argument.
