Somyot to talk Koh Tao with UK PM

National police chief Somyot Poompanmoung said Monday he will meet with British Prime Minister David Cameron to discuss the Koh Tao murder case during a trip to attend a conference in London this week.

Pol Gen Somyot left for London via Thai Airways International this afternoon to participate in an international conference on human trafficking and online child exploitation problems Tuesday and Wednesday.

He was accompanied by Pol Lt Gen Prawut Thawornsiri, assistant national police chief and spokesman for the Royal Thai Police, and Pol Maj Gen Suwat Jaengyodsuk, deputy chief of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, who is the chief investigator in the Koh Tao case.

Pol Gen Somyot said during the meeting he will hold talks with Mr Cameron and Keith Bristow, director general of the National Crime Agency to update them on the prosecution and explain any issues they're curious about.

Defendants Zaw Lin and Wai Phyo plead not guilty Monday to the half-dozen charges they were indicted on Friday at Koh Samui Provincial Court.
