Three Chinese badly hurt in bus crash

PHANGNGA — Three Chinese tourists were badly injured after their 24-seat VIP bus veered off a slippery road in Muang district on Sunday.

The bus, carrying 13 passengers, 11 Chinese and two Thais, was en route from Phuket to a spa resort in Thap Put district of the southern province when it collided with a roadside concrete pole and turned on its side near Phu-Nga Hotel in tambon Tak Dad.

Driver Sanya Annantapetch, 36, said he failed to negotiate a curve at the spot due to heavy rain and slippery road conditions, then skidded out of control and crashed into the pole.

Three Chinese passengers, a man and two women, were reportedly critically hurt and sent to Vachira Phuket Hospital. Other people on board suffered non-threatening injuries and were taken to Phang-Nga Hospital.

The tour bus belongs to Phuket-based An Xin Tour Co. Police charged Mr Sanya with reckless driving causing injury.
