GMM staffer killed by van at Asoke

A female TV staff member of a subsidiary company under SET-listed entertainment giant GMM Grammy Plc died on Thursday after she was hit by a mini-truck running a red light on busy Asoke Road outside her office.

Karnjapas Siriprathum, 28, and other people were about to walk across a pedestrian crossing with the green light in front of GMM Grammy office building in the afternoon when a Saraburi-registered mini-truck ran the red light and struck her hard.

A witness said the truck then dragged her for about five metres before it stopped. Karnjapas later succumbed to her injuries. The witness said Karnjapas was the first in the group to step onto the road after the pedestrian green light flashed.

Karnjapas, from Khon Kaen, was recently married. She worked at Exact Co as a creative for the company’s television programme.

The truck driver, whose name is not known, waited for police at the scene after the crash. He was taken to Thong Lor police staion and faces charges of reckless driving causing death.

There have been previous reports of accidents at the spot where vehicles have struck pedestrians as they cross the intersection with the green light.
