Swede killed in Sukhumvit fall

A Swedish man fell to his death from the 13th floor of a building on Sukhumvit Road early yesterday morning.

Jeans Viktor Bengtson, 24, was found dead at 2.40am in front of a house near Beverly Tower condominium on Soi 13, where he had been staying, police said.

A British man who owned the condo unit said he had given Bengtson a place to stay after the man’s relatives posted a message on social media asking people to look for him. The Briton found Bengtson wandering around on Khao San Road, so he took him in and arranged for his relatives to come and pick him up.

The condo owner said the Swedish man had been agitated all day. He told police Bengtson appeared stressed and might have jumped to his death. Bengtson was reported to have arrived in Thailand on Nov 21 and should have returned to Sweden last Monday, but went missing.

Bengtson had been to Koh Samui, where he spent all his money. He later went to Khao San Road and was without a place to stay until the British man found him. Police found no evidence suggesting foul play at the scene and took Bengtson’s body to the Foreign Medicine Institute for an autopsy.
