Taxis get 93.4% of New Year gripes

More than 93% of the 211 complaints filed on New Year’s Day about poor public-transport services were aimed at taxis.

According to department statement, eight callers to the 1584 hotline complained about Bangkok Mass Transit Authority buses, three about Transport Company buses, two about motorcycle taxis and one about mini-bus service. The other 197 complaints (93.4%) griped about the poor service provided by taxi cab drivers.

For the fiscal year 2014 ending Sept 30, the department hotline received 34,319 complaints about taxi services. Of these, 36.43%,  or 12,504 complaints, centered to drivers refusing to pick up passengers, followed by impolite behaviour (13.8%) and reckless driving (11.8%).

In a separate issue, the Airports of Thailand Plc, advised people to park at the Novotel Hotel's reserved parking or at a long-term lot that can accommodate up to 2,100 vehicles. Doing so avoids the extremely crowded Zones 1-4 parking at Suvarnabhumi airport. Shuttles are available from the remote lots.
