A Thai woman died after falling off a cliff while visiting a famous monastery in Bhutan on Friday.
The Foreign Affairs Ministry said the woman, about 54 years old, slipped and fell off the cliff near Taktsang Palphug Monastery, which she was visiting with a local tour group.
The monastery, better known as Paro Taktsang, is a popular tourist destination and located on the steep mountains above the Paro valley.
The woman's name has not been released and the reason she slipped is being investigated. Rescue workers recovered the woman’s body and officials are arranging for transport to Thailand, the ministry said.
