Miss Sawika went to the Crime Suppression Division after her name appeared in documents of a company belonging to Kittisak Muttujad, one of the suspects in the 1.6 billion baht defrauding of King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL).

Deputy national police chief Pol Maj Gen Prawut Thavornsiri said after meeting the actress that Miss Sawika’s name was on the company shareholder list after she was persuaded to join the business.

But she had never been involved with running the company, Pol Maj Gen Prawut said. Her passbook records did not show any involvement in KMITL’s embezzlement of the 1.6 billion baht, he said.

The embezzlement scandal came to light after the university filed a complaint with the CSD in December against Songklod Sriprasong, 40, former manager of Bank of Ayudhya’s Big C Srinakarin branch, and Amporn Noisamrit, 56, head of KMITL’s financial division. The university said it had found financial irregularities between 2012 and 2014 and asked police to investigate.
