Aryor Arjor, 23, of the Akha tribe, was presented at a press conference at Provincial Police Region 5 in Chiang Mai on Thursday after being charged with human trafficking by luring boys into the flesh trade.

Police arrested Amercian tourist Thomas Gary on Sept 13 last year for allegedly sexually molesting boys in Chiang Mai. Their subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Mr Aryor,  Pol Maj  Gen Prachuap Wongsuk, chief of Provincial Police Region 5, said.

Mr Gary, 61, had made videos of sexual acts involving boys and distributed them in the USA, police said. Many pairs of socks and underpants from sexually abused boys were found in his possession.

Police said Mr Gary had confessed that he hired Mr Aryor to procure boys for him. Police obtained a court arrest  warrant  and Mr Aryor was caught in a tribal village along the Thai-Myanmar border in tambon Therdthai in Mae Fa Luang district of Chiang Rai on Thursday.

Mr Aryor confessed to the charges. He told police that he provided sex services for the accused American  before becoming his procurer. During his three-year stay with Mr Gary in Chiang Mai, he had procured more than 100 boys for him.

He had looked for boys in videogames shops and among his friends. His main targets were handsome boys who rarely bathed, the suspect said.
