Suspect in sex case caught

Police have arrested a man from the Akha tribe for allegedly supplying more than 100 boys to a 60-year-old American man to have sex with over a three-year period.

Pol Maj Gen Prachuap Wongsuk, commander of the Investigation Division of the Provincial Police Region 5 based in Chiang Mai, said the suspect was identified as Ayo Ajor, 23.

He was caught on Wednesday at a house in a border village in tambon Thoedthai of Mae Fa Luang district in Chiang Rai.

Pol Maj Gen Prachuap said a Chiang Mai Provincial Court approved his arrest warrant on Oct 7 last year on charges of human trafficking and procuring children for prostitution.

Mr Ayo allegedly lured over 100 boys, mostly street children, to Thomas Gary Clifford's guest house in Chiang Mai.

Mr Clifford was arrested on Sept 13 last year for sexually molesting boys.
