Economic Crime Suppression Division chief Thongchai Wongsriwattanakul has been transferred to an inactive post at the Royal Thai Police Office.
The transfer order, signed on Jan 8 by national police chief Somyot Pumpunmuang, did not specify the reasons for the transfer, which took effect immediately.
Under the order, Pol Maj Gen Thongchai will no longer hold any position in the ECSD. He has been moved to the RTPO operations centre pending job assignments from the national police chief. He has been told to report to the operations centre at 10am on Friday.
Pol Gen Somyot has assigned Pol Maj Gen Chavalit Sawaengpheut, deputy commissioner of the Central Investigation Bureau, to serve as acting chief of the ECSD.
