The story titled "New Delhi welcomes arrest of Jagtar Singh", published in the Bangkok Post's Thursday edition, incorrectly stated that the arrest of fugitive Indian terrorist Jagtar "Tara" Singh in Thailand sparked a small protest by a group of Thai Sikhs outside the Indian embassy in Bangkok on Wednesday.

The Sikh community in Thailand said in a letter sent to the Bangkok Post that the Wednesday gathering had nothing to do with the arrest and was not a protest.

The group said the gathering was to express their support for Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa, a Sikh leader who has been on hunger strike in India since mid-November in support of Sikh political prisoners whose jail terms are over but who have not been granted freedom.

"The purpose of our visit to the Indian embassy was not a protest but a sign of support and also to deliver a letter to H.E. The Ambassador conveying our support of this cause to the government of India," the letter said, adding that Sikhs all over the world and in India are supporting Bhai Gurbaksh Singh in his protest.

None of their actions have any connection with the arrest of Jagtar Singh. We regret the error.
