Gov't to offer more ways to complain

The government plans to expand its complaint-submission service to allow grievances to be filed at Thai embassies and consulates in nine Asean nations and via a mobile application.

Prime Minister's Office Minister ML Panadda Diskul said Wednesday he was working with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to expand complaint centres to Asean member states as part of the establishment of the Asean Community later this year.

Thai embassies and consulates in the other Southeast Asian countries would be able to accept complaints filed by both Thais and nationals from the host country, ML Panadda said.

The minister also said that TOT Plc was developing a mobile app for the government's public-service centre that would allow smartphone users to file complaints using their handsets.

ML Panadda said that since the May 22 coup, the government has improved the operation of its complaint service centres by deploying officials from 20 ministries to directly receive complaints from people needing assistance.

Since then, people have filed 158,286 complaints, 91% of which have been resolved. The remainder consist of complicated problems, such as informal loans and pyramid schemes, the minister said.
