Amlo seizes 2 luxury cars

The Anti-Money Laundering Office (Amlo) has seized two more luxury cars linked to the 1.4 billion baht embezzlement scandal at the King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Lat Krabang (KMITL).

Police spokesman Pol Lt Gen Prawut Thawornsiri said on Wednesday that officers confiscated two luxury cars — a Mercedes Benz and a Toyota Alphard — which were bought, allegedly with embezzled money, by one of the key suspects in the case, Kittisak Muttujad. Mr Kittisak is still at large after he reportedly fled overseas.

Mr Kittisak asked Phada Buakhao, a suspect who turned himself in to police, to help him sell the cars which have an estimated combined worth of 15 million baht.

Mr Phada took the vehicles to Thiti Woraphiankun, 34, to see if he could find an interested party who might buy the vehicles.

Police raided Mr Thiti's house on Tuesday and asked the Amlo to confiscate the vehicles and arrest Mr Thiti, said Pol Lt Gen Prawut.

Pol Lt Gen Prawut said people who know they have bought assets from the gang should report themselves to police and present evidence of their transactions, or their assets could be confiscated.

Police are still gathering evidence to arrest the alleged mastermind behind the scandal, identified by some suspects as "the Boss''. "We know who he is but we need more time to investigate," he said.
