Hard-sell flower granny for mental treatment

A senior police investigator whose mother has been videoed aggressively harrassing people to buy her flowers in a Nakhon Pathom market has been told by his boss to take her to see a psychiatrist.

Pol Gen Chaiyong Keeratikhajorn told reporters on Friday that Pol Lt Col Anuwat Phoklad, an investigating officer at Hua Mak police station in Bangkok, had been told to urgently take care of his mother, Jamnian Phoklad, and ensure she gets to a mental hospital for treatment.

"I told (Pol Lt Col Anuwat) to prevent his mother from creating a scene again," Pol Gen Chaiyong said.

On Wednesday, Mrs Jamnian told police that she was assaulted by a "fat person" and she showed them bruises on her legs, hands and body, as seen in the video below. She claimed that "the fat person" tried to strangle her and poke her in the eye but she did not fight back.

Mrs Jamnian has been caught on video several times forcing passers-by at a fresh market in Nakhon Pathom to buy her flowers after first placing them in their hands and then abusively intimidating them. She would tell people that her son was a high-ranking police officer who could get them into trouble.

The videos went viral last week and many netizens criticised the flower seller for her rude, intimidatory, "hard sell" tactics.
