Two die in LPG truck crash inferno

NAKHON PATHOM — A mother and her five-year-old child died in an inferno when a truck carrying liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) they were travelling in crashed into the rear of a 10-wheel truck in Muang district on Monday.

The accident occurred on Malaiman Road near the provincial bus terminal about 1.30am. The LPG truck’s driver was injured in the collision and was taken to hospital.

The woman and the child, the driver's family, were reportedly trapped in the vehicle as it caught fire and then exploded. Their identities and the cause of the fatal crash were not known. 

Police closed both inbound and outbound sides the road. Firefighters took about one hour and a half to extinguish the blaze.
