Baby body dumped at airport

The body of a newborn was found in a trash bin at Suvarnabhumi airport on Thursday.

Sompis Tararinreudee found the body of the baby wrapped in a plastic bag in a trash bin outside the arrival hall of the airport while she was cleaning the area and collecting trolleys left by passengers.

Pol Col Kittipob Chumpoonuch, chief of Suvarnabhumi airport police station, said an initial report concluded that the body of a boy weighing 2.1 kilogrammes died hours before the cleaning employee discovered it. The police sent the body to the Forensic Science Institute at Police General Hospital to identify the cause of death.

Since the body was unusually cold, it might be frozen before being put in the bin, Pol Col Kittipob added.

Police checked the footage of security cameras around the area and found some Asian women might be the suspects.

Someone could drop the body before leaving Thailand at the airport, the officer added.
